I Don’t Always Drink Beer, but when I do…

Over the weekend I went with some a friend and my cousin to watch UFC 146: Dos Santos vs. Mir at Buffalo Wild Wings. There are few things I enjoy more than watching well-trained fighters showcasing their abilities while chowing down on some great chicken wings and drinking some cold beer with some good friends.

Now that I’m back in Houston, I get to go to a better Buffalo Wild Wings than the ones back in College Station. The BWW I go to while in Houston has a huge variety of beers on tap. My friend whom I was with told me that I just HAD to try the Saint Arnold Santo, and try it I did.

Don’t feel bad if you haven’t heard of Saint Arnold’s as they are a fairly small brewery in Houston, Texas and their beer can only be found in bottles or on tap in Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and the Dallas/Ft. Worth area (unless it is special ordered elsewhere).

Guides to Being a Gentleman

Every man should strive to be a gentleman. Being a gentleman has taken a backseat in modern times as being old fashioned or even effeminate by some. This fact is very saddening to those with class.

Many men wish to be a gentleman but don’t know how. Luckily there are many books written with that purpose in mind.

These books offer many men simple lessons ranging from how to dress appropriately for varying situations, proper etiquette at dinner either in a restaurant or private home, and they even offer advice on how to woo that lady you’ve had your eye on off her feet.

I’ve read a couple of these books and would like to share with you the two that I found to be the best.

Romeo y Julieta “Reserva Real” Review (Revisited)

One of the first cigars that I reviewed when I started this blog was the Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real. Looking back on it, my writing was pretty bad and now that I am a more experienced review writer, I felt it necessary to revisit one of my favorite cigars.

The Reserva Real has Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers, held together by a Nicaraguan binder and wrapped with a Connecticut-shade wrapper. The wrapper makes this cigar close to my heart as it is grown in Ecuador, where my parents immigrated to America from.

Romeo y Julieta 1875 Review

It’s summer time, which for me means a break from school and a great opportunity to hang out with friends and try new cigars. First up on this summer tour is the Romeo y Julieta 1875.

I am a huge fan of Romeo y Julieta; they are world famous for their attention to detail  and for the quality of their cigars both in taste and construction. As I was rummaging through my favorite tobacco shop in Houston, the Briar Shoppe, I stumbled upon these close by to one of my favorites, the Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real (the review of which can be found here). As the name implies, the 1875 is the original blend that Romeo y Julieta made back when they first opened their doors.

Good Eats

Ah, fondue. First thing that comes to mind when I think of fondue is sitting by a fire in a little cabin in the Swiss Alps after a long day of skiing, prodding little sticks with meat or bread into a pot of nice, warm, bubbly cheese. This of course would be followed by dipping fruits and some kind of pastry in a similar fashion but this time into warm, gooey Swiss chocolate.

Sounds good doesn’t it? Well, you can enjoy in this culinary experience here in America, and no place does it better (at least to my knowledge), than The Melting Pot.

The Melting Pot first opened in Maitland, Florida in 1975 and has since expanded to roughly 150 restaurants in North America including the United States (where most locations are), Canada, and in Mexico, so if you’re lucky there may be one close to you.

Let’s Talk About Chicks, Man…

I’m sure its really hard to make it as a super-model in America. It must take years to get noticed, get on magazine covers, get important gigs, etc. As such, I’m sure the modeling world is pretty jealous of the 19 year old Kate Upton.

You read that right. Kate Upton is 19 and has already graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, one of the most coveted magazine covers in the country. Kate Upton is so hot that it isn’t fair. She’s stealing all the good genes from the gene pool.

The Richmond Arms Pub

Soccer has been called many things, a gentleman’s sport, the most beautiful sport in the world, and many other things. I’ve always been a big fan and I’ve always dreamt of watching a soccer match at a pub in England. Today I got to do the second best thing: watch a soccer match at a English-style pub in Houston at a place called The Richmond Arms Pub.

Simply put, I have never in my life had a soccer experience like I did today. The atmosphere at this place is unbelievable. The place was packed. Everyone was excited. There wasn’t a single person in that pub that wasn’t interested in this game.

Of course, no pub can be complete without beer…
